Cartwheel offers direct integrations with multiple DSP providers such as DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, and many others. By enabling one or more of these integrations, you can automatically route some or all of your orders to a 3rd party DSP.
To enable the integration, choose one of the three modes for order forwarding rules in Properties > Global Settings > Dispatch Management:
- Hybrid Delivery Fleet
- In-House Delivery Fleet
- 3rd Party Delivery Fleet
Hybrid Delivery Fleet
With this model, you set rules and define which orders you would like 3rd party drivers to deliver. Orders that do not fit the chosen criteria will stay in Cartwheel. See how to set Hybrid Delivery Settings in this article.
In-House Delivery Fleet
When this option is selected, none of your orders are forwarded to a 3rd party DSP.
This is useful if you want to temporarily pause sending orders to DSPs.
You still have the option to send an order manually by clicking 'Send to DSP' in the Order card:
3rd Party Delivery Only
With this model, all of your orders will be forwarded to 3rd party DSP once they flow into Cartwheel.
- Reassign ASAP Orders if No Driver is Assigned Within - this parameter automatically reassigns ASAP orders to the Fallback DSP if the Primary DSP fails to assign a driver within the specified timeframe.
-
Reassign Scheduled Orders if No Driver is Assigned before Pick up Time - this parameter automatically reassigns scheduled orders to the Fallback DSP if the Primary DSP fails to assign a driver within the specified timeframe before the pick-up time.
Please note the following:- For ASAP orders, the timeframe is measured in minutes from the moment the order is created.
- For scheduled orders, the timeframe is measured in minutes left until the pick-up time.
- The Reassign ASAP Orders if No Driver is Assigned feature does not apply to orders manually sent to the DSP. If the cancellation is unsuccessful or the fallback DSP rejects the order, it will either remain with or revert to the primary DSP.
- Custom Tip Amount Script - you can calculate the tip amount for a DSP driver using a script, for example, by sending a percentage of the initial tip amount.
-
Use DSP Selection Script - use a script to decide which DSP to select based on the order's driving distance, total, and other parameters.
If you would like to set up any of the scripts mentioned above, please contact our support team at support@trycartwheel.com, and we will assist you.
Order Forwarding Rules Hierarchy
You can also set individual conditions for a specific Team or Pick-up location without changing rules for other locations. These settings exist as a hierarchy:
- Pick-up location
- Team
- Global
The system will first check Order Forwarding Rules for a Pick-up location. If nothing is set there, it will check Team settings and, finally, Global settings. It will use the first value that is set in this hierarchy.
To change the setting on the Team level, you need to go to Properties > Teams > select the Team you’d like to change > Edit > apply the necessary changes in the Delivery Model field.
By default, it is set to ‘Inherit from Global’, meaning it will inherit the settings from the Global level.
You can choose a different model from the drop-down list:
For more details, see the Delivery Model Inheritance Logic article.
Primary and Fallback DSP
If you have two or more DSP integrations enabled, you can choose the preferred and fallback DSP service. To do so, navigate to Properties > Global Settings > Integrations > DSP Properties.
Primary DSP is the delivery service to which the order is sent first.
Fallback DSP is the delivery service to which the order is redirected if a driver is not assigned in the Primary DSP within a specified period of time, or if the Primary DSP rejects the order
Learn more about Fallback DSP by referring to our article on Primary and Fallback DSP setup.
