Driver properties can be accessed by navigating to Properties > General > Drivers:
Company: Enter your company name here. Important - This does not influence the company name drivers enter in the Driver App. To change that, please contact our support team at support@trycartwheel.com.
Require Phone for New Drivers: When enabled, a phone number is required to create a driver account.
Require DOB: When enabled, the driver’s date of birth is required to create a driver account.
Send Text Notification to New Drivers: If checked, drivers will receive a text message with login instructions after their account is created.
New driver text message: This setting allows you to customize the message sent to drivers. However, as it contains links to internal database items, we kindly recommend reaching out to our support team at support@trycartwheel.com for assistance with adjustments. Making changes independently may lead to incorrect or incomplete messages.
Require Drivers to Check Items: When enabled, drivers must check each order item to complete the pickup. When disabled, checking items is optional.
Allow Complete Orders Before Pick-Up Time: If checked, drivers can complete orders in the Driver App before the pickup time.
Upload Photo to Complete Pick-Up: Choose an option from the dropdown list to determine whether a photo is required to complete the pickup stage.
- None: Drivers will not have the option to upload photos at the pickup stage.
- Optional: Drivers will be prompted to upload photos, but the pickup can be completed without them.
- Required: Drivers must upload photos before the pickup can be completed.
Upload Photo to Complete Drop-Off: Choose an option from the dropdown list to determine whether a photo is required to complete the drop-off stage.
- None: Drivers will not have the option to upload photos at the drop-off stage.
- Optional: Drivers will be prompted to upload photos, but the drop-off can be completed without them.
- Required: Drivers must upload photos before the drop-off can be completed.
Driver Pay Script: This field is for the Driver Pay script, which sets calculations for the Driver Pay field based on total amount, tip, driving distance, and other parameters. This field is only updated by Cartwheel admins. To set up such a script, contact support@trycartwheel.com.
Require Last Name for New Drivers: Makes the driver’s last name a required field for creating a driver account.
Driver’s License and Insurance Expiry Check: Enable this setting to automatically verify the validity of the driver’s license and insurance. Drivers with missing or expired documents will not receive self-assigned or Auto-dispatched orders.
Re-notify about Assigned ASAP Orders: Set the time (in minutes) for when a driver will receive a push notification for assigned ASAP orders that haven’t been accepted yet.
Re-notify about Assigned Scheduled Orders: Set the time (in minutes) for when a driver will receive a push notification for assigned scheduled orders that haven’t been accepted yet.
Set vehicle type rules: Create custom rules for different vehicle types (car, motorcycle, bicycle, walking, van). When enabled, you can set fields such as:
- Max Order Value: The maximum order value available for delivery for this vehicle type.
- Max Distance: The maximum distance from pick-up to drop-off allowed for this vehicle type.
- Max Number of Orders: The maximum number of orders drivers can deliver simultaneously for this vehicle type.
Display phone in the Store app: If enabled, the driver’s phone number will be displayed in the Store App.
Driver App Settings
Display payment info: Choose an option from the dropdown list to determine how payment information will be displayed in the Driver App:
- Blank: Hides all payment information.
- Always: Payment information will be displayed to drivers for all orders, at all statuses.
- Completed Orders Only: Shows payment information only after order completion
Note: For cash orders, the order total will always be displayed regardless of the settings.
Display Order Total Amount: If selected, the order total amount will be shown in the Driver App for all orders.
Display Pay per Delivery: If selected, the driver’s earnings will be shown in the Driver App for all orders.
Display Tip: If selected, the driver’s tip will be shown in the Driver App for all orders.
Decline Batched Orders: If checked, when a driver declines one order, all assigned orders will be declined.
Display Declined Orders: Enabling this option allows drivers to view orders they previously declined in the Available Order list. If the autodispatch order assignment method is enabled with this option, it will eventually try to assign the Driver to the order even if they declined it before.
Allow to Decline Accepted Orders: Enabling this option allows drivers to decline orders they have already accepted. With autodispatch enabled, declined orders may be reassigned to other drivers.
If the setting is disabled, a warning will appear when a driver tries to decline an order, and only dispatchers will have the ability to unassign the order from the driver.
Enable Custom Links: This option allows you to create up to three additional buttons that will be displayed in the Profile tab in the Cartwheel app.
Enable Manual Tip Entry: Choose between two options to enable this functionality in the Driver App:
- Tip Amount: Allows drivers to manually enter tip amounts for prepaid orders that initially don't include a tip. Check our article for more details.
- Tip + Signature: This feature allows customers to add a tip percentage when confirming an order receipt with a signature. This option is available for prepaid Toast orders only that initially don't include a tip. Refer to our article for more details on this feature.
Additional Settings
Offline drivers
Allow Assigning Scheduled Orders: If enabled, this option allows scheduled orders to be assigned to drivers who are currently offline.
Time to Accept Scheduled Orders: The timeframe (in minutes) given to offline drivers to accept scheduled orders assigned to them. If set to 0, scheduled orders are automatically marked as accepted when assigned to offline drivers.
Driver’s Proximity
Check location to Complete to Pick up/ Drop off: If checked, requires drivers to be within close proximity (0.3 miles) of the pick-up or drop-off location to change the order status.
Max Distance from Pick-up: Disables the "Accept" button in the Driver App when drivers are not within the specified distance from the pick-up location.
Note: These settings might not be visible by default in your dashboard. Please reach out to the support team at support@trycartwheel.com if you would like to enable this feature.
Driver’s checklist
Enable the “Don’t forget” checklist: Allows you to create a custom checklist message that will be displayed to the driver. This checklist will appear when the driver’s visibility is turned on.
Advanced Options
Automate Driver Team Change: Automatically changes the driver's team when they move outside of their team's boundaries. The “Team boundaries” polygon must be set at the team level for this option to function correctly.
Create Return to Pick-up Route: If enabled, a return route will be created from the drop-off point back to the pick-up location in the Driver App.
