Cartwheel settings are organized across three levels: Global, Team, and Pick-up Location.
Understanding how these levels relate to each other helps you configure the platform efficiently and avoid unexpected behavior when settings seem to conflict.
How inheritance works
When the system needs to apply a setting, it checks the levels in this order:
Pick-up Location → Team → Global
More specific always wins. If a setting is configured at the Pick-up level, it takes effect regardless of what's set at Team or Global. If nothing is set at Pick-up, the system looks at Team. If nothing is set at Team either, Global applies.
What "Inherit from Global" means
At the Team and Pick-up levels, some blocks offer an "Inherit from Global" option. When this is selected:
- All settings are pulled from the Global level
- Fields are displayed in read-only mode
- To make changes, you need to go to Global Settings
To override at the Team or Pick-up level, switch away from "Inherit from Global" — settings become editable. You can also use the Copy from Global button to pre-fill values from Global as a starting point, then adjust as needed.
Which settings can be overridden?
Not all setting blocks are available at every level. Here's a summary:
Don't see a setting you need?
Some settings are hidden by default to keep the interface clean and focused. Visibility is controlled by user roles, and certain options may not be available depending on how your account is configured.
