Orders with Controlled Substances

If your deliveries include controlled substances such as alcohol or tobacco, Cartwheel offers a convenient controlled substances feature. This feature allows you to collect and verify customer IDs through the Driver App during order completion, ensuring that all relevant information is stored in one place and that customers meet the required age limit. To enable or configure this feature for your store, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Properties > Pick-Up Locations.
2. Double-click on your designated Pick-Up.
3. Click the dropdown menu next to Controlled Substances and choose an appropriate option:
   
   
   
   
   • Leaving this field blank indicates that you won't collect this information at this Pick-Up.
   • Selecting "Possible" allows you to collect this information if needed.
   • Choosing "Only" requires drivers to scan customers' IDs to complete the delivery.

From the driver's perspective, when a driver hands over items to a customer and attempts to tap the "Complete Drop-Off" button, they will be prompted to scan the customer's ID license to verify their age if they are over 21. Once the ID is scanned, the order can be completed.

If the customer doesn't have their ID or possesses an ID from a different country, the driver will have the option to manually enter the customer's date of birth and then capture a photo of another document that can serve as proof of their age. This ensures a seamless process even in cases where ID scanning might not be feasible.
