These settings allow you to configure various order parameters that help determine whether an order should be accepted by Cartwheel or rerouted to a backup DSP. They ensure that orders are handled efficiently based on your business rules, delivery area, and driver availability.
To set quotes processing policies, go to Properties → Global Settings → Integrations:
Delivery Area Zip Codes – Zip codes where your pick-up locations are located. Separate each zip code with a comma and a space.
Company Delivery Fee – The fee you charge for providing delivery services as a service provider.
Return Fee – The fee you charge for returning a delivery back to the pick-up location.
Delivery Area Settings – The maximum distance allowed between the pick-up and drop-off addresses. Orders outside this delivery area are automatically routed to a backup DSP. Click ✏️ Edit to enter distance tiers.
Maximum Order Value – The maximum order value Cartwheel will accept. Orders exceeding this value will be routed to a backup DSP.
Minimum Order Value – The minimum order subtotal required for Cartwheel to accept an order. Orders with a subtotal below this amount will be routed to a backup DSP.
Delivery Schedule – The working hours during which the pick-up location is available to accept new orders.
Catering Restaurants – Enables catering-specific logic, allowing you to apply extended preparation times and stricter delivery controls for catering operations.
Forced Delivery Lead Time – Sets a timeframe in hours during which new orders will be rejected. You can use decimal values (e.g., 0.25 = 15 minutes). When set to 0, this rule is ignored. Commonly used by catering operations to control scheduling.
Flat Fee Threshold – Sets a subtotal threshold at which the system applies a flat delivery fee or a percentage fee instead of the standard delivery charge.
Subtotal Percentage – Defines the percentage value of the order subtotal applied to all orders that exceed the set threshold.
Check Driver Availability – Determines how Cartwheel accepts or rejects ASAP orders based on driver availability. Options include:
Reject if no visible drivers – Reject orders if there are no drivers with visibility enabled.
Reject if no free drivers – Reject orders if all visible drivers are currently busy.
Ignore driver availability – Accept all orders regardless of driver status.
Minimum Order Value to Ignore Driver Availability – The minimum order amount at which driver availability and throttling rules are ignored. Orders above this amount will automatically be accepted.
Business Type – Specifies the quote type: Restaurant or Dispatch.
Scheduled Orders Limit – The time limit (in minutes) for how long a scheduled order will be treated as ASAP until its scheduled pick-up time.
Minimum Transit Time – The minimum time required for a driver to deliver an order from the pick-up location to the drop-off location.
Maximum Quoted Delivery Time – Defines the maximum delivery duration that can be quoted to a customer. Orders with an estimated delivery time exceeding this limit will be rejected or routed to a backup DSP.
Calculate ETAs Using Driving Distance – When enabled, pick-up and drop-off ETAs are calculated using actual driving distance instead of straight-line distance, providing more accurate delivery time estimates.
Save Order Details – When enabled, Cartwheel saves detailed order information such as delivery parameters, pricing, and decision logs for reporting and troubleshooting purposes.
Do Not Accept Controlled Substances – When enabled, Cartwheel automatically rejects orders containing restricted or regulated items such as alcohol, tobacco, or prescription products.
Check Driver’s Vehicle Type – Ensures orders are only offered to drivers with supported vehicle types. If vehicle type rules are not set, unsupported drivers will not receive the order. If rules are configured, driver availability will be checked based on those established rules. This applies to ASAP orders only.
Some of the policies can be also set on the Team and/or Pick-up level in the Quote Processing Policies section.
- Pick-up settings:
Address – The pick-up address displayed in your dashboard. This address must exactly match the location information used for order routing.
If this address changes, your incoming orders will no longer match the correct pick-up location. Please notify the Cartwheel team if any updates are made to this address in your dashboard.
Delivery Schedule – Defines the working hours during which the pick-up location can accept new orders. Orders placed outside of these hours will be automatically rejected.
Delivery Area Settings – Specifies the maximum distance allowed between the pick-up and drop-off addresses. Orders outside this area are routed to a backup DSP. Click ✏️ Edit to adjust distance tiers or polygons.
Forced Delivery Lead Time – Sets a timeframe in hours during which new orders will be rejected. Decimal numbers are accepted (e.g., 0.25 = 15 minutes). When set to 0, this restriction is ignored. Commonly used by catering operations to control when orders can be accepted.
- Team settings:
Stop Accepting Orders – Rejects all new incoming orders from the DSP that are scheduled for pick-up before the specified date and time. Use this to temporarily pause operations or prevent same-day orders during downtime or system maintenance.
Delivery Area Zip Codes – Zip codes where your pick-up locations are located. Separate each zip code with a comma and a space. Orders outside of these zip codes will be automatically rerouted or canceled.
Delivery Schedule – Defines the working hours during which the pick-up location can accept new orders. Orders outside these hours will be automatically rejected.
Minimum Order Amount – The minimum order subtotal required for Cartwheel to accept an order. Orders below this amount will be rerouted to a backup DSP.
Delivery Area Settings – The maximum distance allowed between the pick-up and drop-off locations. Orders outside this range are automatically routed to a backup DSP. Click ✏️ Edit to adjust distance tiers or polygons.
Order Throttling – Maintains a balanced number of orders per available driver. Partial values are allowed.
For example, if there are three active drivers and this setting is set to 2.5, once seven orders are received, all additional orders are automatically sent to a third-party DSP.
Check Driver Availability – Determines how Cartwheel accepts or rejects ASAP orders based on driver availability.
Options include:
Reject if no visible drivers – Reject orders when no drivers with visibility enabled are online.
Reject if no free drivers – Reject orders when all visible drivers are busy.
Ignore driver availability – Accept all orders regardless of driver status.
Show the Delivery Area on the Dispatcher Map – Makes the configured delivery areas (polygons or distance radiuses) visible on the Dispatcher’s map for easier monitoring and dispatch planning.
Please Note:
The system checks configuration settings in the following order:
Pick-up level settings
Team settings
Global settings
It will use the first value found in this hierarchy.
If no value is defined at the Pick-up level, the system automatically applies the next available configuration from the Team or Global level.
