This article outlines the current process for client onboarding onto Cartwheel’s Toast integration utilizing 3rd Party Delivery model when signing up directly with Cartwheel.
1. Activate the Cartwheel Integration in Toast
Log in to your Toast account and navigate to the Integrations section of Toast Web using the left-hand navigation menu. Then, select Integrations management > Browse & purchase integrations. Search for “Cartwheel”. Once you find it, click on “Add Now”. This will trigger an email notification to the Cartwheel team to set up your Toast on Cartwheel.
Note: You may activate the Cartwheel integration in Toast before or after engaging with the Cartwheel team, as it is generally available (GA) on the Toast Integrations page.
Note: to integrate Cartwheel with Toast, for U.S. Customers only, Toast Partner Connect (integrations) access must now be purchased with the Restaurant Management Suite Essentials Package ($50/month/location) in Toast Shop (note this link is only accessible to customers with a Toast log-in).
2. Enable Self-delivery in Toast
In the Toast account, navigate to the "Takeout&Delivery" section. Then find "Toast Online Ordering" > Delivery.
Click "My own delivery drivers" under the question "How do you want to deliver orders to guests?"
This will trigger an email notification to the Cartwheel team to set up your Toast on Cartwheel.
Note: Although it says "delivery using your own drivers," it's just a way to send orders to Cartwheel. No worries - it doesn’t mean self-delivery in this case.
3. Enable Toast Integration via Cartwheel Support or Onboarding Manager
We will activate your integration on our side and let you know.
4. Logging into the Cartwheel Web Dashboard
Log into Cartwheel using the link and credentials that were sent to your email by our Team.
Enter your login and password that you have received.
Note: If you wish to use multiple 3rd party providers, please follow this instruction step by step. If you prefer to use either DoorDash Driver or Uber Direct exclusively, follow the setup instructions provided for the selected provider while skipping Step 7.
5. DoorDash Drive integration enablement
To gain the capability of sending orders to DoorDash Drive with more favorable rates, kindly register your Cartwheel/DoorDash account using the provided link.
Once registered, we will finalize the integration process and let you know.
Important: If you prefer working exclusively with DD Drive without utilizing Uber Direct, you are able to activate it the same day. To proceed with that route, skip steps 6 and 7 and proceed with step 8.
Note: If you currently possess an existing DD Drive account with terms more favorable than what Cartwheel provides, kindly inform us, and we'll facilitate the transfer of this account.
6. Uber Direct integration enablement
To start sending orders to Uber Direct with favorable rates, follow these steps:
Navigate to 'Properties > Global Settings > Integrations > UberDirect Properties'. Click on 'Register' and fill out the required information. Click 'Save'.
Important: In the bottom left corner, click 'Save' again. Let the Cartwheel Team know you filled it out.
The UberDirect Team will send you an email, requesting you to add your billing information to the Uber Dashboard directly. Kindly proceed to their platform and register using your email only (not Gmail or phone). Add your payment information in the Billing section - it will be verified immediately. Please let us know once done.
7. Fallback DSP setup in Cartwheel
If you utilize the 'Fallback DSP' feature, all orders will initially be directed to the primary DSP (DD Drive or Uber Direct). In case the primary DSP declines the order, it will be promptly forwarded to the next-in-line DSP.
To configure this feature, follow these steps:
Go to 'Properties > Global Settings > Dispatch Management'. Scroll down to 'DSP Properties'. Set DoorDash or UberDirect as the primary DSP. Choose the Fallback DSP. Click 'Save'.
This setup ensures efficient order management and smooth operations.
Note: we can set up a script for you that will automatically dispatch orders between DSPs based on the best rates for each distance. Just reach out to your Onboarding Manager if you'd like to proceed.
8. Setting up Customer Notifications
You can manage the sending of tracking links to customers by enabling or disabling this feature at both the Global and Pick-Up levels.
Please refer to this article for instructions on setting up customer notifications and a tracking page.
9. Enabling the 3rd Party Delivery model in Cartwheel
To activate the 3rd Party Delivery model, follow these steps:
Navigate to Properties > Global Settings > Integrations. Scroll down to Delivery Model and choose '3rd Party Delivery Only' from the drop-down menu. Save the settings.
This will enable the 3rd Party Delivery model for your Cartwheel platform, allowing orders to automatically flow from Toast to third-party delivery companies.
Congratulations! You are now ready to use Cartwheel. Still have questions? Feel free to contact your Onboarding Manager or email our Support at support@trycartwheel.com.
