You can now receive and deliver catering orders from restaurants using Toast POS through Cartwheel!
Simultaneously, you can direct on-demand orders to another platform for self-delivery. Please ensure that delivery is enabled on your Toast backend. To activate the integration, follow these straightforward steps:
Step 1: The Cartwheel integration activation in Toast
Log in to your Toast account and navigate to the Integrations section of Toast Web using the left-hand navigation menu. Then, select Integrations management > Browse & purchase integrations. Search for “Cartwheel”. Once you find it, click on “Add Now”. This will trigger an email notification to the Cartwheel team to set up your Toast on Cartwheel.
Note: to integrate Cartwheel with Toast, for U.S. Customers only, Toast Partner Connect (integrations) access must now be purchased with the Restaurant Management Suite Essentials Package ($50/month/location) in Toast Shop (note this link is only accessible to customers with a Toast log-in).
Step 2: Enable Delivery option in Toast
In the Toast account, navigate to the "Takeout&Delivery" section. Then find "Toast Online Ordering" > Delivery.
Locate the 'Delivery' option and select "My own delivery drivers" or make sure you have "Toast Delivery Services" enabled.
Note: This can be turned off later after we set up the catering dining options for you.
Note: If you already have catering dining option, you can skip steps 3, 4, and 5.
Step 3: Create a new dining option for the catering module and make adjustments
- Go to Kitchen > Dining Options > Add.
- Name it (e.g., "Catering Cartwheel") and save.
Step 4: Configure catering delivery and on-demand delivery settings
- Visit Catering and Events > Settings > Order types > Add Order Type > Catering.
- Name it (e.g., "Catering orders for delivery").
- Choose the previously created dining option ("Catering Cartwheel").
- Apply any additional settings and save.
Step 5: When creating a new catering order, choose the newly created order type
Alternatively, for catering orders created through the "invoices" tab, click Create Invoice.
Don't forget to specify the created dining option in the invoice.
Note: For catering orders placed via website, make sure the catering dining option is set up by default in Catering & Events > Online Ordering > Delivery Setup > Dining Option > "Your Catering Dining Option Name".
